Should you have an open bar catering option – (especially at your wedding ?)
We always feel that good food is an important part of any family gathering, but having a few drinks (in moderation), can help to make your party go with a swing !
However some of our clients find it difficult to decide whether they will set up an open bar or if a different system will work better for them.
As experienced mobile bar suppliers and licensees, we thought we would share with you our experiences and some options for you to think about. So lets start with the option of an open bar catering:
An open bar catering
Well, to start with, your guests will be thrilled !! The obvious downside is the expense. With a small gathering it may be manageable, but with bigger numbers you will be facing a large bill.
This way you pay for your guests drinks until a certain time in the evening (like an open bar), then it becomes a cash bar. In effect it allows for the hosts to pay for the first drink for their guests upto a certain time.
Cash bar
This is the most cost effective way of providing alcohol. It works in the same way as a night out would.
There are some questions you need to ask your mobile bar supplier – always check:
Who pays for the licence and deals with the paperwork (Claret Catering do)
Is there a set up charge (Not with Claret Catering there isn’t)
Is there a minimum spend (Again – not with us)
Are the drinks at reasonable prices – pub prices are a good guide. (Claret Caterings bar prices have been said to be too reasonable !)
So – what are you waiting for. For a great occasion with great food and a great atmosphere, get in touch with us and we will run your bar for you whichever option you choose. !
